Introducing

KiddiKutter

KiddiKutter was created to give children a safe way to join in with real cooking. The idea is simple, a knife that cuts food, not fingers. Their rounded serrated blades use a gentle sawing action that lets little hands slice fruit, prep vegetables or make their own snacks without the stress of sharp edges. It builds confidence, strengthens fine motor skills and makes everyday kitchen jobs feel playful rather than pressured.

Designed in Australia and trusted by families around the world, KiddiKutter is used by parents, nurseries and occupational therapists who value practical tools that make children more independent. The handles are sturdy and comfortable for small hands, and each knife is made from food safe materials that last. It’s a thoughtful step between plastic play sets and adult knives, giving children responsibility without the risk.

KiddiKutter keeps things simple, safe and genuinely useful. A small tool that makes a big difference at mealtimes.

Is KiddiKutter Right for Your Child?

KiddiKutter is a child-safe kitchen knife designed to allow children to cut real food while reducing the risk of cutting skin. The stainless steel blade uses a rounded, serrated edge that grips and slices fruit, vegetables and soft bread without functioning like a traditional sharp knife.

It is suitable for children who show interest in helping in the kitchen and want to take part in everyday food preparation. Rather than being a toy, KiddiKutter is a practical tool that supports independence and confidence around real cooking tasks.

It works best when introduced gradually. Start with softer foods such as bananas, strawberries or cucumbers before progressing to firmer ingredients with supervision.

All colours function the same way, so the choice is purely aesthetic.

KiddiKutter vs Other Children’s Knives

KiddiKutter uses a stainless steel blade with a rounded serrated edge designed to grip and cut food without slicing skin. This differs from plastic “practice knives”, which often struggle to cut properly, and from traditional sharp kitchen knives, which are not designed for children.

If the goal is independent participation in cooking while reducing risk, KiddiKutter provides a practical middle ground between toy tools and standard knives.

KiddiKutter knives use a stainless steel blade with a rounded serrated edge and a BPA-free polypropylene handle. The materials are designed for regular kitchen use and easy cleaning.

The blade is engineered to cut food but not skin. However, as with any kitchen tool, children should always be supervised during use.

KiddiKutter is generally suitable from around 3 years and above, depending on coordination and supervision.

KiddiKutter works best on fruit, vegetables, cheese and soft bread. Firmer foods may require more pressure and adult guidance.
